Ned

If you thought that you’d had enough of Ned Kelly spoofs with Yahoo Serious’s 1993 effort, Reckless Kelly, along comes young Abe Forsythe, the 22 year old writer, director and star of Ned.

It is somewhat surprising that the film got funding from the Australian Film Commission, the New South Wales Film & Television Office and Showtime Australia for whilst about 50% of it is actually quite funny and indicates Forsythe's talent, sadly, the other 50% is not only puerile and crass but also hackneyed, rendering the movie unwatchable by any other than a narrow band of, I imagine, arrested development fans of gross-out humour.

Whilst it is of course a credit to anyone to get a feature film made so young, wisely, Forsythe has since carved out himself a reasonable career as a television actor.
