The Thomas Crown Affair is a commendable remake of the 1968 Norman Jewison version, with Pierce Brosnan (who co-produced) taking on the Steve McQueen role as an ice-cool playboy art thief.
I preferred McQueen’s portrayal but on the other hand, though lacking her predecessor’s striking looks, Rene Russo gets more to do as the glamorous detective on his case than did Faye Dunaway (who appears in this, somewhat the worse for plastic surgeon’s knife, in a tacked-on role), thanks to a script that develops the principal characters’ relationship in a more substantial way.
