Blue Fire Lady

Fans of the TV series The Saddle Club will appreciate this story of a girl (Cathryn Harrison) whose ambition it is to be a show jumper despite her father’s wish. Mainly set in and around Caulfield racecourse, for the rest of us it’s got some nice local colour, then chart-topper Mark Holden as the clean-cut and blow-waved young man, and John Ewart as a race-horse owner with some truly horrible wardrobe choices. Don’t worry about the risible opening sequence that establishes Jenny’s dilemma. Once you’re over that hump its enjoyable, albeit predictable, fluff although one would have thought they could have got someone more appropriate than Marion Edwards to play the Italian landlady.
