Subterano

Subterano is a futuristic action thriller based on a real video game and is strictly for a teen audience. It is unusual to hear this sort of genre film, usually the domain of American film-makers with bigger budgets, spoken in broad Australian accents. Hammily written, with some wincingly bad dialogue, one can’t help but feel embarrassed for the adult actors involved (Alex Dimitriades,Tasma Walton, Chris Haywood and Alison Whyte).

Shot almost entirely in an Melbourne underground car park it is quite cleverly realized in this respect particularly for an evidently limited budget, with the levels of the car park mirroring the levels of the video game, but unless you’re a fan of this sort of thing give it a wide berth.

FYI:: Mort S. Ebsen is an anagram of Ebsen Storm, a scriptwriter and actor who played Wilbur Wright in Young Einstein (1988).
